COVID-19: Updates for NSW and ACT Restrictions

In response to the rapidly increasing community spread of COVID-19 across different hotspots around Sydney, Quidditch Australia and Quidditch NSW have decided to proactively move NSW back to Step 2 restrictions. This will be in place effective from midnight tonight (21/07/2020).

This means that trainings may have a maximum of 20 players in attendance and are strictly non-contact again, with physical distancing to be maintained at all times. Individuals should choose up to two different clubs and attend only their trainings, and minimise travel where possible.

Balls are allowed, but there should be no other shared equipment, including brooms, bibs, towels, bottles, etc., and balls should be regularly sanitised, and hand sanitiser provided for all players to regularly clean hands.

Clubs are further reminded that when planning trainings, skill-based activities are ideal, as competitive scenarios often lead to players disregarding contact and distancing rules. Social activities held in person, especially indoors, are also strongly discouraged.

NSW teams who are continuing to train are encouraged to fill out a Covid Safety Plan if they haven’t already and send this to Quidditch Australia (as well as circulating it within their own club).

The ACT, meanwhile, has been moved up to Step 4 restrictions, with minimal case numbers in Canberra.
