COVID-19: Play Suspended in Victoria

Players in Victoria are advised that unfortunately, all quidditch in that state has been suspended effective midnight tonight (8/7/20).

This is due to the Victorian Government’s decision to re-implement Level 3 restrictions in Greater Melbourne and Mitchell Shire to help contain the second wave of infections from Covid-19. As all quidditch teams in Victoria are located within this area, this effectively results in a state-wide suspension of quidditch. This means that there should be no trainings, games, etc, and no events will be sanctioned by Quidditch Australia.

We understand that this is an upsetting decision, especially with the lockdowns expected to last for six weeks. We encourage teams and players to go through our suggestions on how to cope during the closedown with individual and team activities and ways to connect, as well as looking at this resource from USA Gymnastics, for Athletes on Coping with the Impact of Coronavirus.

Until quidditch can resume, please take care of yourselves and each other, stay at home, stay safe, and stop the spread.
