COVID-19: May 31st Updates for Clubs

As governments continue to ease restrictions across Australia and case numbers continue to drop, we are happy to summarise the following developments for all states with regards to their progression through the Quidditch Australia Resumption of Play Plan (QARPP) Steps:

  • Queensland: now at Step 1A (effective immediately) *

  • New South Wales: moving to Step 1B (effective June 1st)

  • Australian Capital Territory: now at Step 2 (effective immediately)

  • Victoria: moving to Step 1B (effective June 1st)

  • South Australia: moving to Step 2 (effective June 1st)

  • Western Australia: moving to at least step 3 (effective June 6th).

*Assuming progression stays on track, Queensland is likely to move to Step 1B on June 12th.

All players and especially team leadership members should make sure they are familiar with the QARPP Steps and what they mean for their teams at this stage of resuming play.

In addition, Sport Australia has released a number of useful resources including:

  • Checklists for small sporting organisations

  • Covid-19 Safety Officer advice

  • Template Covid-19 Safety plans

  • Attendance register templates

  • Hygiene guidance

You can access these via the Sport Australia Website.

We would also like to remind teams that returning to play after a period of inactivity is likely to have a higher than usual risk of injury, and therefore, training activities should gradually return to normal. It is also especially important to make sure players are covered by insurance under event sanctioning: www.quidditchaustralia.org/sanctioned-events

(Note that you don't need to resubmit the sanctioning form for every training - just submit the form once, and advise events@quidditchaustralia.org of any changes to training times for the coming week.)

Finally, please note that while the total number of active cases, community transmissions, and transmission rates are all gradually lowering in most states, there continue to be new and active cases in many states. We urge everyone to travel and train with caution, and remind everyone that any cases in the community should be reported to admin@quidditchaustralia.org as soon as possible.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience!

Further updates will be emailed directly to clubs and states, with up to date information always available at www.quidditchaustralia.org/covid-19.
